Master Data Management (QSG)

In a Nutshell

You don’t run an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, but you still have your own systems with their specific master data? The Master Data Management app allows you to import and manage your master data through an easy-to-use interface without scripts or programming skills.

Additionally, the Master Data Management module allows you to customize and configure the elements displayed on the mobile application user interface (visibility, optional/mandatory, field label, show user defined fields, reorder and group them, define default values and make conditional validation).

The Master Data Management module provides comprehensive data management for the following data object types:

  • Filters
  • Contacts
  • Addresses
  • Employees
  • Persons
  • Business Partners
  • Equipment
  • Items

A Closer Look

The heart of the Master Data Management module is the Data Loader. With it, you can download master data templates for specific data objects and upload when completed, update or overwrite existing data, or download object data resources saved to the cloud. The Data Loader feature validates for errors, such as missing required fields and format inconsistencies.

When complete, this data will be used in everything from Checklist creation and template management, to Planning & Dispatching, to the Mobile Service Service application used by technicians.

As an example, let’s take the Service Call.

In order to create a Service Call, you must have Business Partner (customer), Address, Employee, Customer, Equipment, Item, and Filter information. All of this information is used when creating a Service Call from the Workforce Management module.

ExternalIds

ExternalIds are the key, unique value for each data object record. The ExternalId is used to combine multiple data object records together.

User-defined Fields

You can expand on data object templates by adding user-defined columns to the file. Upon successful upload and validation, these values will be available for the selected data object type.

Merge vs Overwrite

When uploading a master data object file, you can select from two options:

Option Description
Merge By selecting this option, the information uploaded will be merged with any existing data object information.
Overwrite By selecting this option, all records that contain a matching ExternalId will be overwritten.

Data Validation

When a data object file is uploaded, the application will run a validation in order to ensure that the information and format are valid, and that all required fields have information.

How do I use it?

Validate File

When uploading a data object file, you must first select the data object type you wish to overwrite or merge.

Master Data Management

You can also create, modify, and delete data object records directly from the Master Data Management module.

Note: This functionality is only for Cloud-based data, and not intended for use with an Enterprise Resource Planner (ERP) system.
